Curriculum in Medication Management

  • A web-based module that will be orientated to both consumer and provider education and will focus upon medication usage and management.

Curriculum in Geriatric Lifestyle Assessment

Organization: AKGEC

Development Stage: In-Process

  • A web-based educational and resource module focusing upon basic geriatric assessment, domains of assessment, approaches to elder care, and common age-related changes.
  • Face-to-face academic course Fall, 2005 with distance delivery health professions module projected Spring 2006.

Curriculum on Substance Abuse & the Elderly

Organization: AKGEC

Development Stage: In-Process

  • A web-based curriculum and resource module on substance abuse. Includes alcohol abuse screening, gender and cultural issues, treatment, intervention and assessment, complications for older adults: a special focus is placed upon alcohol use within Alaska.
  • Academic course scheduled for Fall, 2005 with distance delivery health professions module projected Spring 2006.

Geriatric Training Series Module

Organization: AKGEC

Development Stage: In-Process

  • A web-based educational and resource module that includes information on the demography of aging, injury prevention, abuse and neglect, medication management. Special focus is placed upon the Alaskan context.  Projected web-based module Fall 2006

Alaska Native Diabetes Training Module

Organization: AKGEC

Developmental Stage: In-Process

  • A web-based curriculum and resource module on Alaska Native Diabetes. Includes sections on epidemiology, methods for accessing data, an overview of diabetes, complications of the disease, diet, clothing, cultural and family issues within the Alaska Native community.

Alaska Native Elders Training Video

Organization: AKGEC

Developmental Stage: In-Process

  • A resource video to be utilized by health care professionals treating Alaska Natives. Alaska Native Elders will identify and model effective cultural therapeutic techniques in helping Alaska Natives deal with such things as grief and mental illness. A special focus will be placed on culturally sensitive ways of treating elders and traditional ways of healing.

Ethnogeriatric Module on Alaska Native Elders.

Developmental Stage: In-Process

  • A web-based curriculum resource module focusing upon cultural beliefs, ideologies, and historical events that impact aging and health care within the Alaska Native community.
